What’s in the “Big Ugly” Bill"? This dangerous bill: Per the CBO, adds $2.4 TRILLION to the national debt. Rewards the ultra-rich with more tax cuts. Slashes benefits for the rest of us. Removes the $200 tax on gun silencers. Adds $46.4 BILLION for border wall expansion and hiring more Border Patrol agents. Sets aside $2 BILLION+ in signing/retention bonuses for Border Patrol. Cuts SNAP (food stamps) by adding work requirements and burdensome paperwork. Rolls back clean energy programs. Shifts program costs to states. Weakens judicial oversight of the Executive Branch by limiting enforcement powers. This bill is a direct attack on working people, the environment, democracy—and you.
